Course Breakdown

Six months training in our design studio where you will be required to attend one lecture per week. This gives students the opportunity to work part-time alongside study to help with funding. The assignments carried out throughout this training contribute towards earning a Level 2 Diploma in Graphic Design which will be awarded at the end of the course.

One year work placement as a Graphic Design Coordinator in our studio. Attendance is up to 4 days per week (mon-thurs). Placement begins after you have completed the six months training.

Training

The diploma in graphic design will cover all the essential skills and tools involved in creating publicity material for digital and print publications.

You will gain understanding of the design process and techniques used in creating effective designs and how to utilise the industry standard software used by professional graphic designers. The course utilises Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and Dreamweaver for training in practice.

We provide free access to our student portal where all course material can be found along with forums so that students can discuss all elements of the course with their peers and tutors. We also provide study packs, text books and private tuition sessions should you need extra support.

Techniques learned from the training in practice element of the course are applied to real life projects during placement in practice.

Placement

The placement in practice section of the course enables students to work on real projects that encompass design and branding. Students will experience working in a professional environment, interacting with industry experts and being able to apply their skills to exciting design projects. This could range from creating new branding to website design.

During your time with us, you will see the complete turnaround of several design projects and get the chance to attend regular presentations from leading suppliers.

Our practicing design professionals will provide mentoring and guidance throughout your placement. This helps to ensure that all students build an impressive and credible portfolio of work and gain the level of industry experience needed to further their career goals.

What you will gain

On completion of the course students will have appropriate knowledge and a portfolio of evidence to pursue further study if desired or apply for entry level positions to develop their industry experience in this area.

In addition to the Diploma in Graphic Design, all students can add to their CV the title of ‘Graphic Design Coordinator’ as part of their work experience history. This will be incredibly attractive to employers as it will show that students have had 12 months real industry experience with one of the UK’s leading creative design agencies.

Each year we offer a 12 month contract of employment to our best student. This is how confident we are in our method of training.
